History

Founded in 1906, Racing Club de Lens — the Sang et Or (Blood and Gold) — are the heartbeat of France's northern coal-mining country and one of the most passionately supported clubs in the land. Lens were crowned champions of France in 1998, their sole league title, and also lifted the Coupe de la Ligue in 1999. In a historic milestone, the club won the Coupe de France for the first time ever in 2026, beating Nice 3–1 in the final — a landmark moment for the region.

Stade Bollaert-Delelis

Lens play at the legendary Stade Bollaert-Delelis, a cauldron of noise with a capacity of 38,223 — remarkably, close to the entire population of the town itself. Opened in 1932 and renovated for Euro 2016, the ground is famous for its electric atmosphere, where supporters roar out the club anthem Les Corons before kick-off. The stadium sits in the centre of Lens, a short walk from the town's railway station.

The 2026/27 Squad

Under head coach Pierre Sage, Lens head into the 2026/27 season captained by talismanic forward Florian Sotoca and boasting genuine attacking quality. France international winger Florian Thauvin — enjoying a career resurgence — combines with flair man Allan Saint-Maximin and clinical striker Odsonne Édouard, the team's leading scorer last season, to give the Sang et Or a cutting edge that few sides outside the elite can match.

2026/27 Expectations

Buoyed by a superb 2025/26 campaign and their historic first Coupe de France, Lens aim to keep punching above their weight. Pierre Sage's side will look to compete for European qualification, defend their cup crown, and once again make the Stade Bollaert-Delelis one of the toughest places to visit in France, on both domestic and European nights.

Key Matches

No fixture stirs more passion than the Derby du Nord against fierce rivals Lille OSC — one of the most intense and hostile rivalries in all of French football. Also unmissable are the visits of France's giants, champions Paris Saint-Germain, Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, along with the European nights when continental football returns to Bollaert. These marquee games sell out the fastest, so early planning is essential.
