Buying Atletico Madrid tickets: what to know

The matches that sell out first

Derbies, title deciders and European knockout nights go fastest and cost the most. For those, booking weeks ahead gives you far more choice of seats.

Away matches

Tickets for away matches are usually in home-fan sections. Leave club colours at the hotel and do not celebrate openly — stewards can remove you.

Buying for a group or family

Every listing tells you whether its seats can be sat together, so keep an eye on that detail before you buy. Prices are per ticket, and children need their own ticket.

About Atletico Madrid

History

Founded in 1903, Atlético de Madrid — Los Colchoneros — are one of Spain's "big three" and the proud, passionate heartbeat of the Spanish capital. Atlético have won 11 La Liga titles and 10 Copa del Rey trophies, and are true kings of European second-tier football with a record three UEFA Europa League crowns (2010, 2012 and 2018). Twice, in 2014 and 2016, they reached the UEFA Champions League final, falling agonisingly to city rivals Real Madrid on both occasions.

Metropolitano Stadium

Atlético play their home matches at the Metropolitano Stadium (officially the Riyadh Air Metropolitano), their striking home in eastern Madrid since 2017, with a capacity of 70,692. One of the finest arenas in Europe — a UEFA Champions League final host — it is renowned for the intense, deafening atmosphere generated by the club's devoted support. The stadium is served directly by Metro Line 7 to Estadio Metropolitano.

The 2026/27 Squad

Under legendary head coach Diego Simeone — at the helm since 2011 — Atlético are built on the intensity and fighting spirit that define the club. Captain Koke leads a side anchored by world-class goalkeeper Jan Oblak and spearheaded by all-time record scorer Antoine Griezmann and Argentina World Cup winner Julián Álvarez, with Norway striker Alexander Sørloth and forward Ademola Lookman adding further firepower.

2026/27 Expectations

Backed by heavy investment and Simeone's proven leadership, Atlético aim to close the gap on Barcelona and Real Madrid at the top of La Liga. The targets are clear: mount a genuine title challenge, go deep in the UEFA Champions League in pursuit of the trophy that has eluded them, and add to their Copa del Rey collection.

Key Matches

The biggest night of Atlético's season is the Madrid Derby against arch-rivals Real Madrid — one of the fiercest and most passionate rivalries in world football. Also unmissable are the clashes with Barcelona, the meetings with Sevilla and Valencia, and the electric Champions League nights under the lights at the Metropolitano. These marquee games sell out the fastest, so early planning is essential.
