History
Founded in 1906, Sporting Clube de Portugal — Sporting CP, the Lions — are one of Portugal's "Big Three" and a proud Lisbon institution. Sporting have won 21 Primeira Liga titles — including recent back-to-back triumphs in 2024 and 2025 — along with 18 Taça de Portugal trophies and the 1964 European Cup Winners' Cup. The club is equally famed for its world-class academy, which produced global icons such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Luís Figo.
Estádio José Alvalade
Sporting play their home matches at the striking Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon, their colourful, modern home since 2003, with a capacity of 52,095. Built for Euro 2004 and known for its vibrant green-and-white support, it is one of the finest arenas in Portugal. The stadium is served directly by the Lisbon Metro at Campo Grande.
